If an inventor have submitted the patent application to patent office. Does he need wait till the patent been granted before begin manufacturing the product and sell it to market ? It like that, it would be take a long of time.
Could the inventor begin to manufacturing the product and sell it although it still patent pending ?
Thanks

the answer to both is "yes". but there is considerable risk involved. i've worked on a number of products where i signed the patent application after my initial design was complete. shortly afterward tooling is started and within a year the product is sold - well before the patent clears. but that was a risk the corporation took. and of course there is research done to minimize risk. but on a couple occasions my projects were in tooling when a very similar one was introduced by a competitor (meaning they were ahead of us and probably ahead in patent process too). fortunately, there's never been a direct conflict. but on one occasion it was close!

csven is right you can market your product immediatelly and place a "patent pending" inscription on the product.

A: Once an application for patent has been made can you put "patent pending" on your products, advertising, etc. and avoid the $500 fine for each product or advertising. See
http://www.bitlaw.com/source/35usc/292.html
A: In addition to puting "patent pending" on your products/advertising, you may want to have people sign a non-disclosure agreement (an NDA) while your patent application remains secret for 18 months from the filing date of your application.
