wink.gif I am in the process of putting an invention of mine in a tradeshow. I dont really know if this is the way to go with it, but I cant see any other way to do it.
My problem is this: its really very very large. Its something for the contruction industry, and cannot be re-constructed for a tradeshow in its original form.
So, I suggested that I could create a small scale model of it for the show, and was told that this was an 'ok' idea, but that it probably wouldnt go over very well because people like to see the real thing. However, they dont allow for such a big thing to be in the building.
Has anyone ever had this problem, and what would you consider the best way to go about showing it off.

Glory,

The reason you want to be at a trade show is to present your invention to possible interested individuals or companies. I know that you would like to have the real thing there, but you should think at the economics of it ("bang for the buck" theory).

The simplest (chepest) way is to have a big (4FTx 4FT) picture or 3-D drawing of the invention together with couple of smaller ones showing diferent angles, features or uses of the product.

You can also go more expensive and have a big TV that shows an animation (3-D modeling) of your product.
The next step in cost will be a quarter scale model of the product and the last option is the real thing.

Remember that you are trying to present a product and it's functionality to people that are from the same industry and they can envision what your invention does and if it has useful improvements.

There is also the possibility of parking it outside the show... I've seen it done before.

Hello,

If you have the working invention home, you may want to video tape it doing all its functions and then put that on a DVD and have it loop on a large monitor or video screen . This with the smaller model you bring with you. This will help you show it's functionalaty without to much explaining of what it does.

Just a thought,

Hi,

I have similar situation as fpizzolo has posted. As an amerture inventor participating in an exhibition, is it a norm for an inventor to use the organiser's facility such as note book, projector the demostration pit ect? These items are expensive for an amerture to acquire.

Thank You
