Hello,
Can anyone who has licensed a food product or knows how to please explain how I
can go about doing this? I have a great tasting baked product that I want to license
to a bakery who can distribute it to retail food stores.
I've read that you cannot actually copyright recipes or ingredients. And so I am also trying
to find out what kind of protection is available for this type of licensing?
I would appreciate any responses. Thanks and Have a Great Day.

Food products are tough. You can try to get a method patent on how the food item is made. In fact, I have seen food and chemical patents that include both the formulation of the product and the method for creating it. You might also do some searches for food and food process patents on the patent office website (www.uspto.gov). You might find some large companies that have patents and you can learn how they try to protect their IP.
