I sent for some information from this guy. Never got it so I sent a fallow-up asking what happened. Got a reply that it was on it's way.
I finally got it and read through it. I sent him a email asking him for some information that he said to ask of other companies. Never got a reply so I sent a fallow-up email asking what happened. Never got e reply.
My conclusion is that this guy is a scam. He won't even answer questions that he says to ask of others. Too bad. I was very interested in what he had to offer. sad.gif

I had a similar run-in with Reese just like the one you mentioned. He's a Used Car Salesman as far as I'm concerned.

Like I always say, if an Agency can't be bothered with answering my questions then they don't want to be bothered with me giving them money either.

While I like SOME, I generally am against Agencies because of the mentality they carry. If an agency is going to help pay for my prototyping then I can see them being entitled to a 50% royalty, but if I have to pay ALL of the expense for a prototype then that royalty better come down or we aren't going to do business.

Don't buy into what agencies claim about their expenses for getting your toy licensed because most of it is not true. I know for a fact that most agencies submit inventions by mail, yes they are solicited submissions, but they still are not always face to face meetings like they claim. It would be nearly impossible to do face-to-face meetings for every inventor on your roster, especially when these firms are usually run by 1 or 2 two people.

Also, these agencies charge way too much money to review a submission. I'd say that about $50 is a reasonable and fair price instead of the $100-$500 price tags that most Agencies tack on for submission reviews. These agencies forget that most inventors are not wealthy and these high submission fees burn holes in inventors pockets quickly. I had one Agency tell me that they made little or nothing from submission fees. If that were true, then why would they be charging $100 for it? Doesn't add up. They would have to be making SOMETHING otherwise they wouldn't be charging, or at least not charging $100.

I feel that Agencies overall are getting away with robbery in many regards. Their submission fees are absurd, and the royalties they ask for are even more absurd. Like I've said, if the agency wants me to pay thousands of dollars for my prototype then where do they get off thinking that they should get half my royalty for a lifetime? I don't think an Agency should be looking for anything more than 15-20%, that's a much more reasonable amount. But 40-50%? C'mon.

I studied the field extensively and have learned that YOU can do what the Agencies do, yourself. I do it myself now. I have never had one single problem contacting and getting my submissions to the Major Toy companies, you just have to know how to do it and you're going to have to study in order to learn how its done. You don't need special skills, you just need to be able to read and follow the directions because its all a procedure. Right now, I have major toy companies reviewing my newest concepts and I'm looking forward to a successful run.

I realize this is an old post but I don't think it hurts to give a second opinion...

I have to agree with babu_bot.

Harvey Reese Associates is not what I would consider to be a reputable company. I have had an evaluation from him in which it appeared to me that he totally missed the point of the invention (ie. he didn't actually read the submission past the summary) and just randomly selected ratings for points that were not substantiated in the review.

In addition, he is involved in other money making schemes (MARS LAND RUSH...selling plots of land on Mars) so I would agree that he fits the "used car salesman" stereotype.
