New inventor looking for some good advice. I have a new product idea that I am in the beginning stages of developing. I have just filed for a PPA on this new idea and I am getting ready to talk with some local manufacturing companies to get pricing for a working prototype as well as for mass production. I am planning on marketing and selling this myself instead of licensing it.

My question is, should I be concerned at this point with presenting these third party companies with a confidentiality agreement before talking with them about my idea, or is it too early in the game for that? Is this something they would expect from an inventor or is it something they don’t really like to bother with? Again, I just want them to build it.

Thank you.
